Where and how to View the Nominees for 2022 Oscar online

Are you looking to see the top Oscar nominees before the 94th Academy Award airs on March 27th? You don’t have to go to the theater to do this. There are many options. This is how to find the best nominees online. However, there are many ways to digitally rent, buy and stream them.

"THE POTENTIAL OF THE DOG"

12 nominations. Netflix.

Nods were given to Kirsten Dunst and Benedict Cumberbatch, Jesse Plemons, Kodi Smith-McPhee, and Jesse Plemons as the leading nominees. It was also nominated for a best picture and a best Director nomination for Jane Campion. Cumberbatch, a Montana rancher who is rough and rugged, has a menacing arrogance that brings to life a Gothic tale set on the Western plain.

"DUNE"

10 nominations. HBO Max.

You can find it on HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video. This epic desert sci-fi story, based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel, received nominations for best picture and cinematography. It stars Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet. Denis Villeneuve directed.

"BELFAST"

Seven nominations. Digital rental.

Based on Kenneth Branagh’s childhood, the film received nominations for best picture, best director, best supporting actor for Judi Dench, and supporting actor for Ciaran Hinds. Jamie Dornan was absent, and he plays a father in Belfast trying to protect his family during the 1969 troubles. You can get it on Amazon Prime, Apple TV+ and YouTube.

"WEST SIDE STORY"

Seven nominations. HBO Max and Disney+.

Steven Spielberg’s 1961 film reimagining received nominations for best picture and best director. Ariana deBose was nominated in her Anita. Steven Sondheim, Tony Kushner and Spielberg delved deep to reexamine the classic Romeo and Juliet story that places the Sharks and Jets front and centre in New York City.

"KING RICHARD"

Six nominations Digital rental.

Reinaldo MarcusGreen directs the story of Richard Williams, father, coach, and driving force behind the tennis greats Venus Williams and Serena Williams. Will Smith plays the lead role. Smith, Aunjanue Eli, and Beyonce Knowles Carter were nominated for best picture and original song, respectively, for “Be Alive” (DixSON) and “Be Alive”. You can get it on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube, and many other places.

"DON’T LOOK UP"

Four nominations. Netflix.

Adam McKay’s apocalyptic comedy was nominated for best picture, original soundtrack and original screenplay. Climate change comedy that stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jennifer Lawrence. Earth is saved six months before a huge comet crashes into it.

"DRIVE ME MY CAR"

Four nominations. HBO Max.

The three-hour drama, directed by Ryusuke HAMAGUCHI in Japan, won nods for best picture, best director and more. The story is based on Haruki Murakami’s short story. It follows Hidetoshi Nishijima as an actor. Toko Miura, a 20-year-old actress plays the role of a chauffeur. In the midst of sorrow and loss, a touching friendship is formed.

"NIGHTMARE ALLEY"

Four nominations. Hulu and HBO Max.

The Guillermo del Toro reimagining of the 1947 neonoir classic was nominated for best picture and cinematography. Bradley Cooper and Rooney Mara lead the cast. This is the story of a charming hustler’s brief rise from low-level carney worker to high-paid showman.

"BEING RICARDOS!"

Three nominations. Amazon Prime Video.

Behind-the-scenes footage of Lucille Ball’s marriage to Desi Arnaz was nominated for Javier Bardem (Dimension), Nicole Kidman (Lucille) and J.K. Simmons (supporting role). Aaron Sorkin has created a tender and sharp dramatization that captures a difficult week in the making of “I Love Lucy.”

"CODA"

Three nominations Apple TV+

Apple was nominated for its first best picture nomination with the drama. This drama also made history by becoming only the second ever nominated supporting actor nominee Troy Kotsur. His “CODA” star Marlee Matlin was his first. The film is about the Rossi family from Gloucester, Massachusetts. Ruby, a senior in high school, is the only hearing member in her family, and often their only link to the hearing world.

"ENCANTO"

Three nominations for Disney+

This animated Disney film has something special. It’s the music, rather than the animation itself that has been so appealing to many. The film’s soundtrack was the first to hit No. 1 since 2019. The soundtrack reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”, the film’s most-popular song, became the highest-charting Disney animated film song in over 26 years. Lin-Manuel Miranda created the music magic. The story is about a charming family living in Encanto, a mountain hamlet. Miranda was nominated for the original song “Dos Oruguitas”, as opposed to the one that caused all the attention.

"FLEE"

Three nominations Hulu.

This grand jury prize winner at Sundance, with the exception of live action archival footage is completely animated. This is the story of Amin (a pseudonym for a refugee child who filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen met in his small Danish town when he was 15). Amin did not talk about his childhood in Afghanistan, or about his family. Amin took 20 years to come out to him. The best animated feature film and the best documentary were nominated.

"LICORICE PIZZA"

Three nominations Digital rental.

You can purchase the 1970s-set romp on Amazon Prime Video or iTunes, as well as Vudu and Google Play. Anderson was awarded a director’s nod, and the film was nominated as best picture. It is a charmingly casual love letter to Anderson’s San Fernando Valley youth.

"THE LOST DAUGTER"

Three nominations. Netflix.

It stars Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, and Dakota Johnson. A psychological drama based on the Elena Ferrante novel is featured by Colman and Buckley. They play the roles of young and old versions of Leda Caruso (a frustrated and sad translator) while on vacation in Greece.

"NO TIME TO DIE"

Three nominations Digital rental.

After leaving active duty, Daniel Craig enjoys the good life in Jamaica. However, he is dragged back in by Felix Leiter, an old friend from the CIA. Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Google Play are available for purchase. One of its nominations is for “No Time To Die,” the title song. Music and lyrics by Finneas O’Connell and Billie Eilish are included in the album.

"THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH"

Three nominations Apple TV+

Joel Coen directed the film, with Denzel Washington playing the role of a gray-haired Macbeth, who knows in his aching bonethat the witches’ prophecy has given his last chance to become King of Scotland. Washington’s performance as Shakespeare in the black-and-white version of Shakespeare earned him an Oscar nomination for lead actor. Frances McDormand stars alongside Washington.

"CRUELLA"

Two nominations. Disney+.

Emma Stone plays Cruella, the dog-hater’s villain in Cruella’s origin story. This story is based on Estella’s childhood, when she was simply Estella. Billie Gadsdon played her as a 5-year old. The nominations for makeup and hairstyling are two of the stars.

"THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE"

Two nominations. HBO Max.

Jessica Chastain was nominated for her third Oscar . This is the story of Tammy Faye (televangelist power) and Jim Bakker. Also, the film was nominated for makeup and hairstyling. This is notable because of Tammy’s brazenness. Andrew Garfield plays Bakker.

"PARALLEL MOTHERS"

Two nominations. Digital rental.

The Spanish-language drama, directed by Pedro Almodovar, stars Penelope Cruz. It follows two women who give birth at the same time in the same hospital. It is both personal and political. Oscar nominations include the fourth Oscar for Cruz, who already has one Oscar.

"tick...BOOM!"

Two nominations. Netflix.

Andrew Garfield was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal as Jonathan Larson. He created “Rent” and shocked the theater world. Lin-Manuel Miranda directed the feature adaptation of Larson’s autobiographical musical. The film also received a nomination for film editing.

"SPENCER"

Nominee for Best Actress. Hulu.

Kristen Stewart’s unhinged princess Diana won her the award after she was snubbed by the Screen Actors Guild and the British academy. This biopic is directed by Pablo Larrain. It takes a dark and surrealist approach. Although it received mixed reviews, some critics considered it to be a moving and artistic look at one the most well-known women in history.

"SUMMER of SOUL (...Or When the Revolution Couldn't Be Televised (Or Both)"

Nominated documentary. Hulu.

The 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival is now a reality thanks to Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson. The film was shot in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park) and features performances by Stevie Wonder and Nina Simone at the New York festival. King, The 5th Dimension, and many more.

"THE MITCHELLS VS. "THE MITCHELLS VS.

Nominee for animated feature. Netflix.

While on a roadtrip to drop off Katie (voiced Abbi Jacobson), the oddball Mitchell family must stop an uprising of world electronic devices. Two friendly robots are a blessing. Mike Rianda (Gravity Falls) is the nominee for best animated feature.

"LUCA"

Nominee for the best-animated feature. Disney+.

are the Disney and Pixar coming-of-age stories about a boy who spends his summer on Italy’s Riviera? Jacob Tremblay voices Luca. Jack Dylan Grazer voices Alberto. The two have a lot of fun at the seaside, but they also share a dark secret. Enrico Casarosa directs.

"RAYA & THE LAST DRAGON

Nominee for the best-animated feature. Disney+.

You can take a trip to Kumandra. This is where an evil force decimated the harmony between dragons and humans 500 years ago. To save humanity, the dragons gave their lives. Raya, a warrior, finds a legendary dragon to restore order.
