Met Gala 2022

The Met Gala returns to New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on the 1st Monday of May. The Costume Institute’s annual exhibition, in America: An Anthology Of Fashion, will be celebrated at the Met Gala. Each year, the glittery event, which provides the Costume Institute with its main source of annual funding, welcomes a full red carpet of actors, singers and designers. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will be the official co-chairs of this year’s event. As honorary co-chairs of the event, Tom Ford, designer for Instagram Adam Mosseri and Vogue’s Anna Wintour, will continue to serve.

The Met’s thoughtful tribute to America’s past is in part two, in America: An Exhibition of Fashion . Part one, in America: A Lexicon of Fashion was opened in September 2012 due to the pandemic. The Anna Wintour Costume Center still has the exhibition. It features pieces by American standard-bearers like Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein. The 2021 Met Gala was also in September.

However, this year’s gala and exhibition mark a return back to their May calendar spots.

More than half the pieces in the Lexicon exhibit will be rotated later in the month to include new and rediscovered designers as well as those who were featured in the first rotation. These rotations will show the diversity and vitality of American fashion today.

Anthology of Fashion opens to the public on May 7, 2007. The new exhibition examines the history of American fashion through a series installations in the American Wing’s period rooms. The exhibition features individual designers and dressmakers who lived in the United States from the 19th century through the mid-late 20th centuries. Expect to see approximately 100 stunning examples of women’s and men’s dresses. Parts 1 and 2 will be closed on September 5, 2022. The historical attires are equally captivating. Celebrities will be bringing all of their red carpet looks to the gala on 2 May. Fashion lovers, don’t miss this opportunity.
